I talk a lot about one filter for mobile applications is whether they really merit inclusion as one of the 20ish home screen icons for lots of users. Instagram replacing the iOS camera was a big one. Twitter or Facebook or Tumblr becoming so useful that users want them one tap away is another….
Notifications can also be a phenomenal way for companies to monetize mobile. It can be a way to provide targeted and timely deals based on location and a user’s tendencies. Urban Airship is definitely a company to look at on this front.

“Instead of saying “I don’t have time” try saying “it’s not a priority,” and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.” If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.”

Don’t think I’ll ever buy a Kia, but gotta say that Blake is an awesome spokesman with all these amazing commercials.

Thought this was too funny. Guess the App Store isn’t that rigorous in it’s app-checking process.
But this does get to me thinking, why hasn’t Nintendo made their own version? Too many companies that aren’t getting with the times…
